Justin For Justice | Change The HIPAA Laws

Exception to HIPAA for Mental Disorders and Addictions

Justin Wolfe was a student at Temple University. He was a huge Eagles' fan, a likable kid with lots of friends,  and had just been inducted into a fraternity. Justin died on December 19, 2012 of an accidental heroin overdose at only 21 years old. His Suboxone and family doctors were apprised of his heroin use. However, his parents were not.

Because of the way HIPAA law (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) is written, Justin's medical records were protected from his parents who perhaps could have helped save his life.

His dad, Gregg Wolfe, president of Kaplan, Leaman & Wolfe, a Philadelphia-based court reporting firm, vowed to do something about this in an effort to prevent other parents from suffering such devastation. Gregg has reached out to the media and lawmakers.  Please read the pages of this website, so you, too, can become informed.

Thank you,

Gregg Wolfe
